Spirit Horse Medicine Wheel Program for Youth or Adults
We've designed a healing and education program in consultation with Grey Raven Ranch based on the teachings of the Medicine Wheel, taught by the 3-Sisters Ojibwe Spirit Horses and Chase the Ojibwe Spirit Horse Stallion. This is a land-based, experiential learning program where horses are the teachers!
This program is for groups of youth (ages 9 and up) or adults that can commit to a 1.5 hour session 1 x a week for 4 weeks, OR, a full 1-day workshop.
Things you will experience:
Journey with us to experience confidence building, self-reflection and development, healing, and learning the teachings of the Medicine Wheel. The 3-Sisters and Chase will be used to guide participants to examine their own behaviors, communication skills and interpersonal skills, allowing participants to make changes to their behavior, promote inner healing, build confidence and learn about Indigenous culture. Programs can also be tailored to whether your group is looking for a reconciliation based or healing based program.
There is NO riding in this program, it is groundwork based and no horse experience is required.
Our program is based on the Building Block Equine Equine Assisted Learning Curriculum which has been researched and backed by a 5-year university study (see below) and proven to improve the lives and mental health of at-risk Indigenous youth. Facilitators are certified via the Academy of Equine Assisted Learning and have mental health first aid training.
Our Medicine Wheel program was designed in consultation with Grey Raven Ranch to ensure that the story of the Ojibwe Spirit Horse and the medicine wheel teachings are passed on in a way that is approved by the elders and the Indigenous community in Seine River First Nation, where Chase comes from.
There are many great teachings of the Medicine Wheel available online for those who are interested in learning more:
