HORSES FOR SALE

If you are interested in one of the horses listed, please email us at lessons@sagehillstables.com for more info or to arrange a viewing and trial ride.

Starla

Starla (Star Quest) is a 7 year old Thoroughbred mare.  She's been trained both under western and English disciplines, but has done primarily English since we've owned her.  The previous owner showed her at Jump for the Cure in 2019, and we trailered her to our fun show at Bird's Hill Park in 2021 where she also schooled cross rails and small verticals.  Starla is currently in use in our lesson program for our advanced students.   Reason for selling is because she is not versatile to be used for our less advanced riders, which is the majority of our student base.  As she is young and athletic, she is not a horse that can sit and she needs to be in consistent work to perform relaxed and comfortably.  We think she has a great potential to be a hunter/jumper show prospect or potential in another sport for an intermediate to advanced rider in a program.  She's an easy keeper feed wise and lives outside 24/7 with no blanket.  Trailers and stands for the farrier.  She is currently in front shoes and requires annual maintenance on her hocks.  Videos available or come watch her in our lesson program.  Asking $6500
Zeus
Zeus is a middle-aged draft cross gelding that can be ridden western or English.  He is a big guy that tries very hard!  He has been in our lesson program now for over a year and is used for adults or teenagers (because he is big)!  He's a cuddle bug out in the field looking for treats from people and middle to low pecking order in the herd.  Although our students enjoy riding him, we are still having trouble getting him settled in our busy barn with doors constantly opening and closing and horses coming in and out.  We'd like to start looking for a quieter home for him that he doesn't find so stressful.  He does not find the arena stressful or tacking up outside, but he does find tacking up in the busy barn and being in a stall stressful.  We have used him on group trail rides on our property and at Bird's Hill Park, and in our lesson program for walk-trot-canter lessons including ground poles and cross-rails. He has always been safe for riding for us with no buck or bolt on the trail or in the arena, but does require a teenager or adult rider.  We think he could make a great husband horse or pleasure riding horse for an adult who does not intend to show (which he would find very stressful traveling to new places all the time).  He lives outside barefoot with no blanket.  Trailers and stands for the farrier. He does have some stifle arthritis which requires maintenance if you want to do canter and collection work (sound and comfortable at the walk trot with out it).  Videos available or come watch him in our lesson program. Asking $4500.

KIWI

Kiwi is an Appaloosa mare, approximately 15 yrs old and 14.3 hands.  We believe she has a primarily western background, but has done English since arriving here, including some dressage and hunter jumper. We also use her for leadline rides birthdays and childrens lessons.  She is a good pony for an strong beginner to an intermediate level rider - what we would call a step-up pony!   Good feet, good for the farrier and a good loader.  Also really great on the trails!  We took her to Birds Hill Park this summer where she did some dressage, hunter jumper and trail rides.  She does have some arthritis in her knees that is manageable with injections and previcox if you are doing a lot of sport activities like gymkhana or hunter jumper (not necessary for light riding).  She is recommended to get an annual teeth float by the vet.  She is a dominate mare in the herd.  Reason for selling is that she has a lot of spunk still so is not suitable for our Intro lesson program and we looking to slowly replace our herd with horses that are adaptable to multiple skill levels.  We think she has potential as a gymkhana pony, pony club pony or 4H horse! Asking $4500
