FAQ
All of our riding lessons are indoors.
We start students off in English saddles. You can request to ride Western (please let your coach know on the first day) and we do teach Western riding lessons. However, the skills required to start off riding are the same whether you ride English or Western, and we find English saddles more adjustable for youth (especially the stirrups) and easier (lighter!) for students to learn to place properly on the horses back. If you'd like to continue your lessons in Western after the Intro Program, we have a Western Riding Stream you can join!
The first lesson is going to be mostly theory, filling out paperwork and learning how to catch and lead, groom and tack up horses. We will also practice mounting and dismounting, but will not do a lot of riding. So, if you have questions about what to wear, helmets, etc. you can also ask your coach at the first lesson at you won't miss out on anything :)
As you get better at catching, leading and grooming and tacking up your horse, the riding time each lesson will get longer. Typcial riding times are 45 minutes to 1 hour for riding lessons. These lessons will include students learning how to care for, groom and tack-up their horse with coach supervision - skills necessary to continue in the equestrian sport or to pursue horse ownership.
If you are going to be away for a week or weekend and need to miss a class, or we can do make-up lessons for missed classes as long as we get 4-hrs notice for missing the event. Students can reschedule their make-up lessons themselves using our online booking program.
