Riding Program

Register Today
Sagehill's Discounted Introductory Riding Program is designed for those people ages 8 to 70+ who would like to learn how to ride!

This special promotional offer includes
2-hour weekly lessons with other fellow horse newbies and includes theory, safety, assisted tack-up and riding time. These lessons are discounted $10-off our regular group lesson price per lesson AND include an additional 1 hour of coach supervision.
Our program has been specially designed to help people new to horses learn the basics of horse care and horsemanship. If you haven't ridden for awhile, or need help learning how to catch and tack-up your horse before heading to the Equestrian Development, this is a good place to start.

Our diverse team of coaches with expertise in English & Western disciplines are committed to teaching our students to ride and work safely with horses.  All of our lesson programs are designed to teach the foundations of safety and animal welfare so that students have the necessary knowledge to continue with any horse-related endeavors including leasing or owning a horse someday!

FAQ

Where do riding lessons take place?
All of our riding lessons take place indoors and are offered year-round! We also have an outdoor arena that we use on nice days. Please dress for the weather, as our arenas are not heated.
What does the first lesson look like?
The first lesson is mostly theory, filling out paperwork and learning how to catch, lead, groom and tack-up horses. We also practice mounting and dismounting, and introduce basic riding skills. If you have questions about what to wear, helmets, etc. you can also ask your coach at the first lesson.
How much time is a riding lessons?
As you get better at catching, leading and grooming and tacking up your horse, the riding time each lesson will get longer. The first few lessons riding time might be 20 to 30 minutes with a goal of getting to 45 minutes ride time per lesson. These lessons will include students learning how to care for, groom and tack-up their horse with coach supervision - skills necessary to continue in the equestrian sport or to pursue horse ownership.
What happens if I miss a lesson?
If you are going to be away and need to miss a class, we can do make-up lessons for missed classes as long as we get 24-hrs notice prior to the event.  Check out the ECPro help page on how to cancel using ECPro, or email us. Students can reschedule their make-up lessons by emailing us at [email protected].
What equipment do I need?
All students need to have is a shoe or boot with a 1/2 inch square heel.  Most rubber boots work if they have a heel, a cowboy boot, hiker or other boot with a heel, or you can look at Greenhawk Winnipeg for an equestrian paddock boot.  Greenhawk also sells equestrian riding helmets and safety vests.  We do have helmets students can borrow for their first few lessons.
What is the Payment plan
Winter 2026 Payment plan is two payments of $239.40
**Note Fareharbor credit card fees are additional and deposits are non-refundable. 24-hrs notice required for make-up lessons**
