Parents Tack-Up and Horse Safety Lessons

Is your child in the Equestrian Development Program?  We recommend all parents take this fun and educational theory session. Parents are encouraged to help students tack-up their horses once in the equestrian development program.  Once students start to lease a horse, parents are the supervisors of the tack-up and practice ride, so its important that parents can recognize safe and unsafe situations and know what to do when things don't go as planned.   This is for the safety and wellbeing of both rider and horse.

The learning points of this theory session are:
  • demonstrate and practice safe handling of horses and horse behavior
  • go over safe grooming practices
  • practice correct saddle placement and bridling
  • practice leading, haltering, tying and stall safety
  • go over correct warm-up and cool down practices for both summer and winter riding

Dates for the winter session 2022:
  • Thursday Feb 3 6 to 8pm
  • Saturday Feb 5 1 to 3pm
  • more dates will be added if classes fill up

To register please sign-up via Eventbrite as spots will be limited for COVID-19 protocols
